Risk Methodology
Risk is defined before the outcome is known
The purpose of the risk methodology is to make failure conditions visible and prevent a signal from being mistaken for a guarantee.
- Invalidation belongs in the initial setup
- Subscribers control account-level sizing
- Leverage and automation add risk rather than certainty
Trade-level invalidation
Every executable setup should state where its thesis fails. The distance between entry and invalidation helps a trader estimate the loss per unit before choosing a position size. Stops can slip or fail during extreme conditions, so the planned loss is not a guaranteed maximum.
Account-level exposure
CryptoSignals cannot know each subscriber’s balance, other positions, liabilities, or loss tolerance. Subscribers must account for correlated positions and avoid treating several crypto trades as independent when they depend on the same market direction.
Leverage and liquidation
Leverage changes required margin and can bring liquidation closer; it does not improve signal accuracy. A leveraged position can lose more quickly, experience forced closure, or behave differently across exchanges because contract and margin rules vary.
Operational and automation risk
Manual and automated execution can differ from the published price. Latency, slippage, partial fills, rejected orders, API outages, and configuration errors must be monitored independently from whether the market thesis was correct.
